I decided to start this blog after my son was diagnosed with food allergies. For the first seven months of his life he suffered with terrible eczema and after a trip to the ER we found out he is allergic to milk, soy, eggs, sesame and peanuts. As a parent of a child with food allergies it is a constant emotional rollercoaster. I have cried at grocery stores, at birthday parties and at night. He has had the Epi injection twice and spent too much time in the ER.

Current allergies: Milk, Eggs, Peanuts, Tree nuts
Outgrew: Sesame, Soy

Dr. McDougall rocks!

I absolutely love this video (below). I might be going on a starch and veggie diet really soon.

Everything that Dr. McDougall says makes total sense and all we have to do is go back to basics. Go back to the world of diet before it was Westernized. The simple meals of potatoes, rice, beans and vegetables.   I need to learn about spices because you can make any meal delicious with just some simple spices.

This diet that Dr. McDougall talks about will help me tremendously with feeding Aiden and avoiding his allergens.  It's a vegan diet so you automatically avoid Milk and Eggs and you can easily avoid Soy and Peanuts as well.

I haven't been this excited since baking my first egg, milk, soy, nut free cake for my son and watching him devour it like a child should.

Food Allergies still suck, but at least it taught me to be more aware of what goes into our bodies and the harm it can do to some.  Food is powerful. It can kill and it can heal.

Now off the find some recipes.
